Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my first consultation with Dr Inge ?

Your first appointment will typically take 30–45 minutes and is designed to be thorough, personalised, and unhurried.

During your appointment, Dr Inge will take the time to listen carefully to your concerns, whether you are seeking help for pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, heavy periods, or fertility concerns. A detailed gynaecological, medical, and surgical history will be discussed. If appropriate, a gentle examination may be offered. This is always done with your full consent, and you are welcome to decline or ask questions at any time.

To help make the most of your consultation, please bring:

  • A valid referral (usually from your GP)
  • Any previous blood tests and imaging (including ultrasounds and MRI scans)
  • Prior surgical reports or operation notes, if applicable

Following your assessment, Dr Inge will provide:

  • A clear explanation of possible diagnoses - Recommendations for any further investigations if needed
  • A tailored treatment plan, which may include medical management, lifestyle strategies, or minimally invasive surgery

As a gynaecologist in Melbourne with a focus on complex conditions such as endometriosis, Dr Inge believes in shared decision-making. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, explore your options, and decide on a plan that aligns with your goals.

Why do I need another pelvic ultrasound scan?

Ultrasound findings can change over time, particularly in conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, or fibroids

A previous scan may also have been performed in a general setting, whereas a specialised gynaecological ultrasound done by a COGU specialist can offer a more targeted and detailed assessment.

A repeat scan may be recommended to:

  •  Assess for subtle endometriosis that may not have been seen previously
  •  Characterise complex ovarian cysts or monitor size of cysts over time
  •  Assist with treatment planning, particularly if surgery is being considered

The goal is to ensure that any decisions about your care are based on the most accurate and up-to-date information available.
